Her story stands out because she experienced the quiz show from both sides. First, she competed against a Chaser. Later, she returned to Beat The Chasers Australia. Eventually, she joined the Chaser panel herself. This contestant-to-Chaser journey makes her career unusual within the international Chase franchise.

Why Is Mara Lejins Called The Smiling Assassin?

The name The Smiling Assassin reportedly started during her school years. The supplied source connects the nickname to Year 7 tennis. Mara was much shorter than some opponents. Yet she could beat taller players while smiling throughout the competition. That playful contrast eventually became part of her television identity.

Her screen personality follows the same idea. She appears friendly and approachable. However, her competitive trivia skills can make her a formidable opponent. Her signature pink television outfits also add a distinctive visual element. The result is a persona that mixes warmth, humour, confidence, and intense general knowledge.
